Alcaniz Street Is Getting a Streetscape Overhaul From Garden Street to the Bayfront

The CRA approved plans April 6 for improvements along Alcaniz Street, a downtown corridor connecting the historic district to Bayfront Parkway.

Alcaniz Street is getting a streetscape renovation from Garden Street to Bayfront Parkway after a CRA vote Monday.

The Pensacola Community Redevelopment Agency approved the Alcaniz Streetscape Improvements project at its April 6 meeting. The project follows Historic District Master Plan documents included in the agenda materials.

Alcaniz Street cuts through the heart of downtown Pensacola's historic district, a pedestrian corridor lined with restaurants, galleries and small businesses connecting the upper downtown grid to the waterfront. Streetscape improvements typically address sidewalks, lighting, landscaping and pedestrian infrastructure.

Specific design details, costs and a construction timeline were not publicly available from the posted agenda. The Flightline will follow the project as plans are finalized.
