Pensacola's city and county governments don't often sit down together formally. When they do, something significant is usually on the table.

The Pensacola City Council is set to approve Resolution 2026-15 at its April 9 meeting, calling for a joint session with the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners. The joint meeting is April 16 at 9 a.m. at the Pensacola Bay Center, 201 E. Gregory St.

The venue is notable. The same week, the Pensacola CRA is reviewing a draft convention center analysis of that same facility. Whether the joint session touches on the Bay Center's future, or involves other shared priorities like infrastructure, the port or transit, has not been publicly detailed. No agenda had been posted as of Monday.

Joint sessions between the two bodies are rare enough to be newsworthy on their own. The public is invited. The Flightline will cover the April 16 meeting.
