Pensacola State College baseball sits in first place in the Panhandle Conference at the midpoint of the 2026 season. This is not unusual. The Pirates have been among the elite junior college baseball programs in the country for more than a decade, and the 2026 edition looks like another team built for the postseason.
The program has been among the most consistent NJCAA Division I baseball programs in the country, making multiple World Series appearances in recent years. For reference: the World Series field is eight teams chosen from more than 350 eligible programs. Making it six times in a decade means PSC has been in the top eight nationally in most recent years, a sustained level of excellence that most four-year programs never approach in a comparable window.
Head coach Bryan Lewallyn has built the program on pitching depth and regional recruiting. The current roster has six players from Escambia and Santa Rosa counties who signed after being overlooked by Division I programs. Several Pirates from recent rosters have transferred to four-year schools after strong NJCAA seasons, including players who went on to sign professional contracts.
Home games run at Rankin Stadium, 1000 College Blvd., on the Pensacola State campus off Blue Angel Parkway. Admission is $5 general. Games are played Tuesday, Wednesday and weekend afternoons through May. NJCAA Division I baseball draws players who are typically on track for four-year transfers and, in some cases, professional drafts. Several former PSC players have transferred to Division I programs.
